Mathare United midfielder Paul Kinyanjui has explained the importance of a solo goal he scored against police Kenya FC, a goal that got three points for his team and ended 13 unbeaten FC police matches.
Kinyanjui, who came as a substitute in the second half, hit Thursday, February 20, in Dandora, denied the opportunity for law enforcement to extend their advantage at the top of the table.
For Mathare, the victory lifted them out of the relegation zone, moving them to 12th position with 25 points from six wins, seven series, and eight defeats.
Reflecting with victory, Kinyanjui explained that being resurrected by a coach was not a reflection of his abilities but rather a tactical decision by John Kamau, who always admitted the right time to introduce it.
“The coach always tells us this, and I always believe: I’m not being raised because I’m not good enough to start. I came out of the bench because the coach knew when I had to bring me into the game, and I made a difference, “Kinyanjui shared with the club media.

He added that even though he didn’t always play 90 full minutes, he maintained a positive mindset, using most of the time he was given.
“This is about remaining positive, and when you are given a limited minute, you use it as well as possible and do something that has an impact,” he said.
Kinyanjui further discussed the importance of its purpose compared to the others he had printed for slums.
“All goals are important, but today, it is very important to us. Considering our position on the table, this goal has encouraged us to rise in ranking, and it is very important for our morals and progress, “he explained.

This is not the first time Kinyanjui scored in a time of stopping.
In their first leg match against Posta Rangers in November 2024, he scored the second goal at 90+ Minutes to get a 2-0 win for his team.
In addition, he made sure Mathare got points in a 1-1 draw against Sofapaka in their first leg match last September.
With Kinyanjui wanting to continue its impact from the bench, the John Kamau team will be seen building this victory when they face Kariobangi’s shark in the next match on Saturday.
