Head coach Nairobi City City Salim Babu has revealed why he chose to join the club, despite accepting an attractive offer from another team.
Babu has been absent from the Premier League of Kenya Football Federation for almost two months, after his dismissal by Kenya Police FC at the end of November 2024.
He took over the city star after resignation Nicholas Muyoti in early January this year.
In the first two matches, the term of office of Babu has not produced a victory.
He suffered a 1-0 defeat of Bandari FC in his debut match in Mombasa, followed by another 1-0 defeat of the AFC leopard during the weekend at the Dandora Stadium.

Apart from the current team’s struggle, sitting only two places on the relegation zone in League 18 of the team, Babu stated that while there were several offers on the table, he chose to join Simba Wa Nairobi because their promising young players and their play styles, which is in harmony with its own preferences.
“Yes, there are many offers, but I see that City Stars has young players, and training them will be easier. So, I decided to join the club, “explained Babu after the AFC Leopards match.
“Besides that, they play the soccer style that I want.”
He further noted that the players adapt well to his tactical approach “Babu Ball”, and he was optimistic that, in his third match against Bidco United, the results would begin to reflect his efforts.
“My tactical approach develops well. Even in Mombasa (against Bandari), we played well, and here (against AFC Leopards) we tried to dominate. But in the third match, the results will be different. I’m sure we will win, “he added.
