Harambee Starlets begin their bid to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games when they face Seychelles in the first leg of their second-round CAF Women’s Olympic qualifying tie on Thursday.
Although Seychelles are listed as the nominal home team for the first leg, the match will be played the at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
This gives Kenya an unusual home advantage from the opening game as the Football Kenya Federation has listed both legs in Nairobi, with the first leg on October 8 and the return on October 12.
The winner of the two-legged tie will advance to the third round of African Olympic qualifying, where they will face the winner of the Malawi vs Zimbabwe tie.
The Harambee Starlets have considerably more experience at international level and recently competed at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, while Seychelles are still developing their women’s national-team programme.

The visitors’ recent results, however, demand some caution. Kenya suffered three defeats in the WAFCON group stage, losing 4-0 to Morocco, 1-0 to Senegal and 2-0 to Algeria.
Seychelles’ recent results have been considerably more concerning. They were beaten 10-0 by Ethiopia in a friendly on October 3, just days after suffering a 16-0 defeat to the same opponents.
